Last Saturday I went on a guided walk entitled ‘The Foodie History and Cocktail Bar Tour’ – what’s not to like about that title!!
The walk was organised and curated by Joanna Moncrieff who is a City of Westminster Guide and runs Westminster Walks.
I love Soho – it’s so vibrant and food rich and what I enjoyed about this particular walk was all the hidden gems – bars that I hadn’t noticed before, mainly because they are tucked behind nondescript or shabby looking doorways! Joanna was also showed us an average looking pubs that turn out to be a haven for Champagne lovers, selling no less than 31 varieties by the glass – I shall return!
As a mini heat wave was in full flow on this particular Saturday, our halfway stop for a cocktail at Zenna Bar was much appreciated. In the cool and calm of this dimly lit basement bar I cleverly chose a vodka and lemon curd cocktail which was like drinking a soft scoop, alcoholic sorbet. It was divine!
I’m not going to share anymore of Joanna’s secret finds because at £12 for the 2.5 hour walk, it’s much better to go and find out for yourself!
